Owatrol Solid Colour Stain is an all-in-one opaque finish designed to protect and transform exterior masonry and wood. Tinted Colour Information

Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from dirt, grease, grime and mildew. Remove any previous coatings where necessary.

• New wood can have a hard, shiny surface known as mill glaze, which can limit penetration and prevent proper coating adhesion. Carry out a water drop test: sprinkle water onto the surface. If the water is absorbed immediately, the surface is ready for finishing. If the water is not absorbed, follow the guidance below:
• Resinous or high-moisture timber such as Larch, Pine, Spruce and PTW: Treat with Owatrol Seasonite and allow the wood to weather for a minimum of 6 months.
• Cedar: Treat with Owatrol Seasonite and allow to weather for a minimum of 12 months, regardless of the water drop test result.
• Exotic woods such as Iroko, Azobe, Padouk and Ipe: Allow the wood to weather for a minimum of 12 months.

• Clean the wood with Owatrol Net-Trol to remove loose wood fibres, dirt and other surface contaminants.
• If the wood is severely contaminated, clean with Owatrol Aquanett or Owatrol Prepdeck, then neutralise with Owatrol Net-Trol.

• Check the adhesion of the existing finish using the cross-hatch test method.
• If the existing finish is well adhered, sand the surface and clean with Owatrol Net-Trol.
• If the existing finish is in poor condition or poorly adhered, all previous coatings must be completely and thoroughly removed. Use the appropriate product according to the type of existing finish:
• Oils: Strip with Owatrol Aquanett orOwatrol Prepdeck, then neutralise with Owatrol Net-Trol.
• Solvent-based finishes (oil or alkyd): Strip with Owatrol Dilunett, then neutralise with Owatrol Net-Trol.
• Acrylic finishes (water-based): Strip with Owatrol Prepdeck, then neutralise with Owatrol Net-Trol.
• Other finishes, such as 2-pack epoxies and urethanes: Strip with DSP800.

Important: Woods that are high in tannins, such as Cedar, Ipe, Oak and Teak, may darken when treated with Owatrol Aquanett, Owatrol Prepdeck or Owatrol Dilunett. Neutralising with Owatrol Net-Trol immediately after rinsing will help lighten the wood and restore its natural colour. A contact time test must be carried out when using Owatrol Aquanett, Owatrol Prepdeck or Owatrol Dilunett on Oak, Chestnut and other high-tannin woods to avoid blackening the wood. Refer to the relevant TDS for further guidance.

Always test a small area of the surface to be painted to ensure you are happy with the finished results

• Apply an even coat of Owatrol Solid Colour Stain, avoiding heavy application, using a brush, a roller sleeve or Airless sprayer.
• Allow to dry for 3–4 hours.
• Then apply a second coat.

Note: When spraying, immediately back-brush or back-roll the surface to ensure even colour, coverage and penetration.

Keep from freezing and high temperatures. Close lid tightly after use and store in original container.

Shelf life: 1 year minimum in original unopened packaging.

Surfaces exposed to harsh weather or heavy traffic may experience faster wear. In these areas, clean the affected surface and recoat as needed.

Delivery - All orders placed on a working day before 3pm will be dispatched on the same day for next working day delivery. We recommend ordering samples or colour charts before purchasing. While we strive to represent colours accurately, screen settings and surface types can affect appearance. Opened tins cannot be returned due to dissatisfaction with colour.

Faulty Items

Faulty items can be refunded or exchanged within 30 days. All returns are tested, and if no fault is found, no refund will be issued you'll have the option to have the item returned. For faults discovered after 30 days, please contact the manufacturer for further support.
