Seasonite is Owatrol’s innovative solution for protecting new wood during its most vulnerable first year. Newly installed timber is particularly sensitive to moisture and UV exposure, which can quickly cause warping, cracking, and unsightly damage. Seasonite stabilises the wood, controls moisture transfer, and bonds with the fibres to protect against the effects of sun, rain, and pollution.

Easy to apply with a brush, Seasonite requires just a single generous coat and is suitable for both vertical and horizontal surfaces. It is ideal for softwoods, including pressure-treated timber, allowing wood to weather naturally during its first 6-12 months while keeping it protected and looking new.

Note: Seasonite is suitable only for unfinished new wood. For weathered or previously treated timber, use Net-Trol followed by a penetrating product such as Textrol wood oil.

Proper surface preparation is essential to ensure maximum protection and performance.

• Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of dirt, grease, grime, mildew, and other contaminants.
• Treat any mildew with a solution of 1 part bleach to 3 parts water. Scrub onto the surface, let stand for 10-15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
• If necessary, sand the surface after cleaning using 80-grit sandpaper to remove any roughness or residues.
• Remove all dust and debris before applying Seasonite.

Following these steps will ensure your new wood is fully prepared to receive Seasonite and achieve optimal protection.

Seasonite can be applied with a brush, medium pile roller, or garden sprayer. Proper application ensures maximum protection and optimal performance.

Preparation & Conditions

• Cover anything you do not wish to coat, including plants and shrubs.
• Apply at temperatures between 10°C and 30°C (50-86°F).
• Do not apply in direct sunlight, on hot surfaces, or if cold/wet weather is expected within 24 hours.
• Shake or stir the can well before use. Do not thin.
• Wood should be clean and dry, or slightly damp but not wet.
• Consult Owatrol for advice before applying on hardwoods. Do not use on Oak.

Application Technique

• Always work the full length of a board or piece of wood to a logical break; never stop mid-board.
• Vertical cladding should be coated from top to bottom.
• After spraying, always back-brush or back-roll to improve penetration and uniform coverage.
• Apply one liberal, saturating coat to all wood surfaces, including end grain.
• When treating decks, work Seasonite into cracks between boards.
• For dips, shakes, or shingles: soak for 10 minutes and allow excess to drain.

Drying

Decks can usually be walked on approximately 1 hour after application.

Maintenance

• After approximately one year of weathering, maintain and protect Seasonite-treated wood using a penetrating oil finish such as Textrol.
• For colour, use Solid Color Stain.
• To clean and restore wood to its original appearance, use Net-Trol.

Storage

• Transfer leftover Seasonite to a smaller, airtight container made of plastic or glass.
• Keep away from freezing temperatures and high heat to preserve product quality.

Faulty Items
