Zinsser Peel Stop Clear Binding Primer Paint

Zinsser Peel Stop is a clear sealer for use on interior and exterior surfaces where peeling, flaking, dusting, or chalking is a problem. This flexible finish, forms a breathable membrane over faulty or difficult substrates, creating a sound surface for new paint. Its formulated to allow moisture to escape the surface therefore stopping peeling problems on old or new surfaces.

Always ensure the surface to be treated is clean, dry and free from any dust, grease, oil, wax, mould or possible contaminates that may interfere with adhesion.

• Thorough surface preparation is highly recommended
• Wash the surface with an appropriate cleaning solution or solvent
• Surface must be free from any loose material, old paint ca be sanded or scraped
• Lightly sand exposed wood to remove loose fragments
• Sand all glossy surfaces with sandpaper

Before applying stir the product thoroughly and test a small area

• Shake or stir well before use
• Do not thin, Zinsser Peel Stop is ready to use
• Application can be done with a synthetic brush, roller or airless sprayer
• Only apply in temperatures between 10-32°C
• To seal cracks and edges of old paint, back brush or roll
• Allow to dry for 2 hours, Peel Stop should dry to a slight sheen
• Apply a second coat if dull spots appear
• If conditions do not permit prompt drying, allow Peel Stop to dry overnight before priming or painting

Note: Any water-based or alkyd primer or paint may be used over Peel Stop. As Peel Stop is clear, we recommend priming with Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 or Zinsser Cover Stain, followed by a coat of quality water-based or alkyd paint to assure optimum results.

Always follow the manufacturer instructions found on the tin.

Q. Can this be applied onto a new surface?

A. Yes, Peel Stop forms a clear breathable membrane over difficult substrates as it forms a tight bond that will help stop the top coat from cracking or peeling providing a sound surface for primers and paint.

Q. Can this be applied on old alligatored or cracked paint?

A. Yes, but any flaking / peeling paint or loose fragments must be sanded. A thorough preparation of the surface is highly recommended as this will interfere with the product's ability to adhere to the surface. This product is designed to seep under the edges of the old pain and glues this down which keeps them from curling up after the primer and the top coat has been applied.

Q. What primer and or top coat will be suitable to apply?

A. Any water based or alkyd primer or paint can be applied over peel stop. For Primers we recommend using the Zinsser Bulls Eye 123 / Zinsser Cover Stain for top coats we advise using any quality water based paint to ensure the best results.

We offer a 14 day money back guarantee for all goods shipped correctly that are not required. If the item is not required, please send the item back for a full refund in its original condition, unused with its original packaging. Please note return for unwanted item is at your own expense.

All tinted paint purchases are final and non-refundable. If you're unsure about your selection, please refer to the product listing or contact us for guidance before ordering. Once mixed, tinted paints cannot be returned or refunded, regardless of delivery delays or changes in circumstances.

While we aim to meet delivery timelines, we are not responsible for delays caused by couriers, weather, or other external factors.

We recommend ordering samples or colour charts before purchasing. While we strive to represent colours accurately, screen settings and surface types can affect appearance. Opened tins cannot be returned due to dissatisfaction with colour.

Incorrect Item

Faulty Items

Faulty items can be refunded or exchanged within 30 days. All returns are tested, and if no fault is found, no refund will be issued you'll have the option to have the item returned. For faults discovered after 30 days, please contact the manufacturer for further support.
