For use on ferrous metals such as steel, cast iron and wrought iron. Dulux Trade Metalshield Zinc Phosphate is a high performance solvent based high build primer suitable for use on blast cleaned surfaces and on hand-cleaned iron and steel. This primer will offer up to 8 years protection to metal surfaces when applied as directed, with 2 coats of Dulux Trade Metalshield Gloss or Dulux Trade Metalshield Satin.

Preparation
To get the best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean and dry (new surfaces particularly must be fully dry) and free from grease, wax and oil. Use a suitable oil and grease remover to clean the surface if necessary.
Bright new galvanized steel surfaces must be pre- treated with Dulux Trade Mordant Solution prior to application of the primer. Remove all loose or defective paint back to a firm edge. Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead. Remove all loose scale and rust by thorough scraping and wire brushing.
Where necessary or specified, surfaces should be blast cleaned to BS 7079 Part A1: 1989. Sa 2.5 to give an appropriate surface profile.Application

Stir thoroughly before use.
Apply 1 coat of Dulux Trade Metalshield Zinc Phosphate Primer with a brush or roller only. Do not spray. For best results and to ensure you get maximum protection, follow with 2 coats of Dulux Trade Metalshield Gloss or Satin.
Aftercare & Storage
Ensure that the lid is kept firmly closed at all times and store the paint upright in a dry environment, avoiding extremes of temperatureDelivery
