Overview

Use Dulux Trade Mordant Solution on new, galvanised metal to provide adhesion for paint. A water based solution, it chemically etches the surface and prepares it for coating with the relevant Dulux paint system.

    Preparation

    To get the best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean and dry. New surfaces in particular must be fully dry. The surface should also be free from all defective or poorly adhering material such as dirt, grease and wax. Degrease where necessary with a suitable oil and grease remover. Rinse with clean water to remove residues.

    Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.

    Application

    Note: Always follow the manufacturers instructions found on the tin

    Apply the solution with a brush only. This product is not suitable for spraying

    Brush the surface with a liberal coating of Dulux Trade Mordant Solution and allow it to dry. The surface should turn black overall. If it fails to do so, this indicates that the surface has been contaminated or it has been previously treated with a factory applied pre-treatment. If this happens, rinse the surface thoroughly and rub down with a suitable abrasive paper to remove all previous residues. Apply another coat of mordant solution.

    Be sure to avoid over application, as this will cause pooling, resulting in a desposit of copper.

    After applying the solution, rinse the surface thoroughly and allow to dry completely before applying a primer

    Remove as much of the product from your brush and rinse with water

    Faulty Items

    If you find a fault with your product, we can offer a full refund or exchange within 30 days. We test every product that is returned to us, sadly if a product is found to have no fault we cannot refund this and the you will be given the option to have this returned to you. Please contact us to discuss these options. If you find fault after 30 days of purchase you may wish to contact the manufacturer directly as they will be able to offer support with the product.
