Dulux Trade Mordant Solution - 2.5 Litre

Use Dulux Trade Mordant Solution on new, galvanised metal to provide adhesion for paint. A water based solution, it chemically etches the surface and prepares it for coating with the relevant Dulux paint system.

Use prior to the application of Dulux Trade Metalshield Quick Dry Metal Primer

To get the best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean and dry.

• New surfaces in particular must be fully dry.
• The surface should also be free from all defective or poorly adhering material such as dirt, grease and wax. Degrease where necessary with a suitable oil and grease remover. Rinse with clean water to remove residues.

Note: Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.

We recommend to always perform a test patch to ensure you are happy with the finished results.

• Apply the solution with a brush only. This product is not suitable for spraying
• Brush the surface with a liberal coating of Dulux Trade Mordant Solution and allow it to dry.
• The surface should turn black overall. If it fails to do so, this indicates that the surface has been contaminated or it has been previously treated with a factory applied pre-treatment. If this happens, rinse the surface thoroughly and rub down with a suitable abrasive paper to remove all previous residues. Apply another coat of mordant solution.
• Be sure to avoid over application, as this will cause pooling, resulting in a desposit of copper.
• After applying the solution, rinse the surface thoroughly and allow to dry completely before applying a primer

A. In some cases, Mordant Solution can act as an alternative to primers for metal surfaces. It creates a suitable base for paint application, eliminating the need for a separate primer coat. This can save time and effort in the painting process.

A. Dulux Trade Mordant Solution is designed to be compatible with various Dulux Trade paints and coatings. Using it ensures compatibility between the surface treatment and the subsequent paint, enhancing the overall performance and longevity of the finished coating. It can be used with the following products Dulux Trade Metalshield Satin or Dulux Trade Metalshield Gloss.

While we aim to meet delivery timelines, we are not responsible for delays caused by couriers, weather, or other external factors.

We recommend ordering samples or colour charts before purchasing. While we strive to represent colours accurately, screen settings and surface types can affect appearance. Opened tins cannot be returned due to dissatisfaction with colour.

Incorrect Item

Faulty Items

Faulty items can be refunded or exchanged within 30 days. All returns are tested, and if no fault is found, no refund will be issued you'll have the option to have the item returned. For faults discovered after 30 days, please contact the manufacturer for further support.
