Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from grease, dust or flaking paint before you begin.

• Lightly sand glossy or previously painted surfaces by hand to create a key for the paint to bond to
• Wipe away any sanding dust with a damp cloth and allow to dry fully before painting
• For bare wood, ensure it is smooth and free from any raised grain, a light sand and wipe down is all that's needed
• Stir the paint thoroughly before use

Always test the product on a small, inconspicuous area before full application to ensure compatibility and desired results.

• Apply using a good quality synthetic brush or roller for larger surfaces, Annie Sloan's Flat Brush is ideal for a smooth, even finish
• Apply in long, even strokes, working in one direction to minimise brushmarks
• One to two coats are recommended for full, even coverage, allow each coat to dry completely before applying the next
• For a second coat, lightly sand between coats with a fine-grit sandpaper and wipe clean before recoating, for the smoothest possible finish
• No finishing coat of Wax or Lacquer is require, Satin Paint is self-sealing and ready to use once dry
• For outdoor surfaces, use Chalk Paint™ with Chalk Paint™ Lacquer instead

Q. Do I need to apply Wax or Lacquer over Annie Sloan Satin Paint?

A. No, that's one of Satin Paint's biggest advantages. Unlike Chalk Paint™, which requires a finishing coat of either Chalk Paint™ Wax or Chalk Paint™ Lacquer to protect the surface, Satin Paint has built-in protective qualities that mean it is ready to go once dry. This makes it a faster, more practical choice for skirting boards, doors, kitchen cabinets, radiators and bannisters, surfaces where durability matters and skipping the finishing step saves meaningful time.

Q. What is the difference between Annie Sloan Satin Paint and Chalk Paint™, which should I use?

A. Both are excellent paints, but they are designed for different purposes. Chalk Paint™ is Annie's most versatile paint, it adheres to almost any surface, works indoors and outdoors, and is the go-to choice for decorative effects, furniture and floors. However, it does require a finishing coat of Wax or Lacquer to protect the surface. Satin Paint is more specialised, designed specifically for internal wood and metal, but comes with built-in protection and no finishing step required, making it the smarter choice for interior woodwork and high-traffic surfaces like kitchen cabinets, radiators and skirting boards. If you're upcycling furniture quickly or painting interior trim, reach for Satin Paint. If you're going for decorative effects, working outdoors or painting beyond wood and metal, Chalk Paint™ is the one.

Delivery - All orders placed on a working day before 3pm will be dispatched on the same day for next working day delivery. All tinted paint purchases are final and non-refundable. If you're unsure about your selection, please refer to the product listing or contact us for guidance before ordering. Once mixed, tinted paints cannot be returned or refunded, regardless of delivery delays or changes in circumstances.

While we aim to meet delivery timelines, we are not responsible for delays caused by couriers, weather, or other external factors.

We recommend ordering samples or colour charts before purchasing. While we strive to represent colours accurately, screen settings and surface types can affect appearance. Opened tins cannot be returned due to dissatisfaction with colour.

Incorrect Item

Faulty Items

Faulty items can be refunded or exchanged within 30 days. All returns are tested, and if no fault is found, no refund will be issued you'll have the option to have the item returned. For faults discovered after 30 days, please contact the manufacturer for further support.
