Owatrol Floetrol Paint Conditioner

Owatrol Floetrol serves as a water-based paint conditioner, enhancing paint flow and ease of application. It transforms interior and exterior emulsion and acrylic paints, including coloured wood stains, to behave more like oil-based paints. Additionally, it enables paint to adapt to challenging conditions such as extreme temperatures and humidity.

A benefit of Floetrol is its ability to eliminate brush and roller marks by enhancing paint flow, resulting in a smoother, more professional finish.

Unlike harsh paint thinners or water, Floetrol maintains the qualities and colours of the paint. When used with a paint sprayer, it allows for up to a 20% reduction in pressure without compromising the spray pattern or performance, reducing clogging and wear on tips.

Follow the surface preparation guidelines provided on your paint/finish container. Ensure all loose and flaking material is removed. Treat any mould growth with a fungicidal solution or a mixture of equal parts water and chlorine bleach (let the bleach solution sit for 15 minutes), thoroughly rinse, and allow to dry.

Ensure your paint is thoroughly stirred before beginning application in the usual manner. If the paint pulls, dries too quickly, or doesn't level or flow properly, mix in Floetrol until the paint spreads smoothly, offering adequate "wet-edge." Let the brush, roller, or sprayer guide you.

Using Floetrol with a Brush or Roller

Add approximately 7-10% per litre of paint. If the paint is thick, or in extreme temperatures, more Floetrol may gradually be added, up to 15% per litre.

Using Floetrol with an HVLP & Cup Gun sprayer

Add 5-10% per litre of paint. The amount depends on the consistency and flow properties of the paint. If the paint seems to thicken, add a tablespoon of water per litre of paint to thin it.

Using Floetrol with an Airless sprayer

Add up to 10% per litre of paint.

Using Floetrol for Faux finishing

Add 20-25% per litre of paint. Do not add too much conditioner for vertical surfaces as the technique may sag or vanish.

To add Floetrol, shake the container well first. Then, adhere to the following guidelines for adding Floetrol, stirring the mixture thoroughly. Proceed to apply the paint and Floetrol blend onto your surface as usual.

Note: Floetrol is milky white in colour and as such cannot be used in clear varnishes.

Q: Does Floetrol yellow over time, like oil-based paints?

A:No, it does not. Acrylics, unlike oil-based paints, do not contain oil, so they do not yellow. The yellowing of oil-based paints occurs as the oil in the paint ages.

Q: Does Floetrol alter the sheen of the paint or dull the colors in any way?

A:Water-based or acrylic gloss paints with a gloss level of 70% or higher may experience a slight reduction in sheen level. Otherwise, Floetrol will not affect the sheen level of the paint.

Q: Can Floetrol be used in clear varnishes?

A:Floetrol is milky white in colour and as such cannot be used in clear varnishes.

We offer a 14 day money back guarantee for all goods shipped correctly that are not required. If the item is not required, please send the item back for a full refund in its original condition, unused with its original packaging. Please note return for unwanted item is at your own expense.

All tinted paint purchases are final and non-refundable. If you're unsure about your selection, please refer to the product listing or contact us for guidance before ordering. Once mixed, tinted paints cannot be returned or refunded, regardless of delivery delays or changes in circumstances.

While we aim to meet delivery timelines, we are not responsible for delays caused by couriers, weather, or other external factors.

We recommend ordering samples or colour charts before purchasing. While we strive to represent colours accurately, screen settings and surface types can affect appearance. Opened tins cannot be returned due to dissatisfaction with colour.

Faulty Items

Faulty items can be refunded or exchanged within 30 days. All returns are tested, and if no fault is found, no refund will be issued you'll have the option to have the item returned. For faults discovered after 30 days, please contact the manufacturer for further support.
