Overview
Liberon Garden ColourCare Decking Paint is a water-based, matt finish ideal for the protection of exterior wooden decking and garden furniture. The 3 in 1 formulation offers stain protection, colour, and wood degeneration prevention all in one whilst still enhancing the natural grain of the wood. This decking paint includes natural oils that penetrate the wood to prevent both water and UV damage to give you long-lasting protection against weathering. The water-based formula means it's quick-drying and safe to use around animals and plants.

Preparation
Always ensure the surface to be treated is clean, dry, and free from any dust, algae, fungi or moss.
• To clean decking give it a good brush with a stiff broom to remove any dirt, debris, or loose wood
• Check the surface of the decking for loose screws or boards and ensure these are tightened
• If the decking has been previously stained, painted, or varnished, we would recommend stripping it back to the bare wood. For previously stained decking you can use Ronseal Garden Decking Stripper
• If your decking has been affected by algae, fungi, or mould it can be cleaned with Liberon Tough Deck Clean and Revive
Note: Most new decks come with a bit of waterproofing protection. This could stop the stain from sticking. To avoid this, give your new deck a good scrub with Liberon Tough Deck Clean and Revive. Alternatively, leave it to weather for three months. Test the surface by placing a small amount of water on the timber. If the water droplet absorbs into the timber, it is a suitable surface to apply Garden ColourCare Decking Paint to. If the water droplet remains on the timber surface, Garden ColourCare Decking Paint will not adhere.
Application
Before applying the product test a small area on the surface to be treated to ensure you are happy with the finished results.
• Apply when temperatures are between 12° and 25°C and when bad weather is not forecast
• Stir the paint well before and during application
• Apply using a brush
• Work in the direction of the wood grain and in small areas
• Work well into the grooves
• Avoid excessive application
• Allow to dry for 8 hours, then allow a second coat as above
• On porous floors or areas of high traffic a third coat may be necessary
• Allow to dry for 48 hours after the final coat before usage
Aftercare & Storage
Cleaning
Keep your decking clear of debris to prolong the finish and frequently clean any build-up grime and mould.
Maintenance
If there are any signs of heavy wear or surface damage, we would advise that a maintenance coat is applied. Woods with little absorption (Iroko, Wenge, Larch etc) require a regular application of a maintenance coat. Applying further coats of Decking Paint, wash existing timber with a high-pressure washer and remove any foliage /moss and any excess oil stains. Once fully dry apply a further maintenance coat.
