Overview

Available in a variety of colours and ideal for use all year round on exterior walls, Dulux Trade Weathershield All Seasons Smooth Masonry is a flexible, smooth, solvent-based masonry paint based on patented AkzoNobel technology. It is especially suitable for difficult climates, giving up to 15 years lasting protection. Its unique NAD technology provides quick drying and recoat times, even in very cold conditions. It withstands rainfall within 15 minutes of application.

Easy to apply, with excellent opacity, it contains a fungicide to inhibit mould growth on the paint film and is not prone to yellowing.

Preparation

For best results from All Seasons Gloss, make sure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean and dry. It is particularly important that new surfaces are completely dry. Remove all loose or defective paint or powdery residues by thorough brushing and scraping, using a stiff fibre brush.

Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead. Treat any areas affected by mould, lichens, algae and moss with Weathershield Multi-Surface Fungicidal Wash. Make good minor defects with an appropriate filler. Use a sand and cement mix for larger holes and cracks. Allow to dry. Surfaces that remain powdery, friable or chalky after thorough preparation should be sealed with a coat of Weathershield Stabilising Primer.

Note: Do not seal sound new or bare surfaces with stabilising primer. New or sound bare surfaces should be sealed with a thinned first coat of Weathershield All Seasons Smooth Masonry (add up to 1 part white spirit to 10 parts paint).

Application

Note: Always follow the manufacturer's instructions found on the tin

Stir thoroughly before use. Seal new or bare surfaces with a thinned first coat of Weathershield All Seasons Smooth Masonry, up to 1 part white spirit to 10 parts paint. Apply with a brush or roller only. Do not spray.

Generally, 2 full coats of Weathershield All Seasons Smooth Masonry are required, but on previously painted surfaces in good condition, where similar colours are used, 1 coat may be enough.

Dulux Trade All Seasons Gloss has been formulated to allow it to be applied in lower temperatures that normal exterior masonry paints, however it is not to be used in extremes of temperature (below 5ºC) or during rain, fog or relative humidity above 80%.

Thinning

Coverage will vary considerably depending on the surface being painted. As a general rule:

Smooth surfaces of low porosity, eg rendering - 14 to 16m2 per litre

Textured surfaces of low porosity, eg pebble dash - 4 to 6m2 per litre
