Crown Trade Acrylic Primer Undercoat - White

Crown Trade Acrylic Primer Undercoat is a water-based, quick-drying primer and undercoat designed for interior wood and suitably prepared metal.

This cost-effective, all purpose primer/undercoat provides good opacity and excellent adhesion, creating a solid foundation for a smooth and durable finish. It is ideal to use under Crown Trade topcoats. With a recoat time of 4 hours, it helps for faster project completion.

All surfaces must be sound, clean, suitably dry and free from anything that will interfere with the adhesion of the materials to be applied.

New Surfaces

• Rub down the surface with a suitable grade of abrasive paper. Remove all dust.
• Timber with oils/extractives must be swabbed with clean methylated spirits, frequently changing the face of the cloths.
• Treat knots with two thin coats of fresh knotting.
• Fill any fixing holes, open joints and shallow surface defects with Sandtex Ready Mixed Filler or 2 pack wood filler.

Note: On pre-primed MDF, Spot prime bare and filled areas with one coat of Crown Trade Acrylic Primer Undercoat followed by one coat of Crown Trade Acrylic Primer Undercoat all over.

Previously Decorated Surfaces

• Remove all loose, failing or suspect paint.
• Remove grey and denatured surfaces by rubbing down with abrasive paper. Feather edges of sound paint. Remove all dust.
• Organic growth must be treated with Sandtex Trade Fungicidal Solution and removed.
• Treat knots with two thin coats of fresh knotting.
• Fill any fixing holes, cracks and shallow surface defects with Sandtex Ready Mixed Filler or 2 pack wood filler.
• Wash remaining sound paint with hot water and liquid detergent solution to remove any contaminants, frequently changing the water.
• Wet abrade to provide a key. Rinse with clean water to remove all residues.
• Allow to dry.
• Spot prime bare and filled areas with one coat of Crown Trade Acrylic Primer Undercoat.

Always test a small area of the surface to be painted to ensure you are happy with the finished results

• Stir well before and during use.
• Apply 1 coat as a primer, or 2 coats if using it as an undercoat too. Apply by brush or roller to an even thickness (use good quality tools – synthetic brush or short/medium pile roller). For airless spray, dilution may be required. For further information, follow the spray manufacturer’s guidelines. Maintain a wet edge.

Crown Trade Acrylic Primer Undercoat, on the other hand, is a water-based, fast-drying, and economical option, ideal for interior use on wood, hardboard, and plaster. It offers good opacity and adhesion, is touch dry in around 1 hour, and can be recoated after about 4 hours.

A: Crown Trade Acrylic Primer Undercoat is a fast-drying, water-based primer and undercoat intended for general-purpose use. It is suitable for interior surfaces including:
- Wood (softwood, hardwood, and hardboard)
- Plaster
It is not suitable for bare metal, plastic, or loosely bound surfaces. For these, other specialist Crown Trade products are recommended.

A: It dries to a matt finish, offering excellent opacity and adhesion to create a smooth, even base for topcoats.

Faulty Items
