    Overview

Bradite Roadline RL52 is a quick-drying, high-performance, ambient crosslinking water-based acrylic line marking paint designed for use on roads, runways, car parks, and sports facilities. Offering excellent adhesion to asphalt, bitumen, concrete, and brick, it delivers a highly durable, abrasion-resistant finish that stands up to heavy traffic and outdoor exposure.

Roadline RL52 produces no bleeding on asphalt or bitumen surfaces and is suitable for both interior and exterior use. It can be paired with Bradite Low Slip Additive LS30 to provide additional underfoot traction where a non-slip surface is required. Available in white and yellow as standard.

Surface dry in just 20 minutes and with a minimum overcoating time of one hour, RL52 is ideal for projects where downtime must be kept to a minimum.

    • Minimum overcoating time of one hour - ideal for minimising downtime on busy surfaces
    • Excellent abrasion resistance for long-lasting line markings
    • Withstands heavy foot and vehicle traffic in demanding environments
    • Bonds reliably to asphalt, bitumen, concrete, and brick
    • Formulated to prevent bleed-through on dark surfaces
    • Maintains sharp, clean line definition on asphalt and bitumen substrates
    • Can be used with Bradite Low Slip Additive LS30 to create a non-slip surface
    • Low odour, non-flammable formula safe for use in occupied environments
    • Water-resistant finish suitable for exterior exposure once cured
    Area Interior or exterior
    Recommended Use
    • Bonds reliably to asphalt, bitumen, concrete, and brick
    • Suitable for use over sound existing coatings including polyurethane, epoxy, and chlorinated rubber
    Base Water Based
Coverage Up to 12m² per Litre (varies with surface porosity & texture)
    Drying Time
    • Surface dry 20 minutes
    • Light traffic 16 hours minimum, after final coat
    • Full cure in 7 days
    Re-Coat Time 1 hour minimum
Recommended Coats 2 full coats (on bare absorbent surfaces, apply a 20% thinned priming coat first)
Application Method Brush, roller or sprayer
Clean Up Clean all equipment with clean water immediately after use
    Preparation
    • Ensure all surfaces are completely dry, dust free, and free from contamination, grease, oil, laitance, and efflorescence before coating
    • Remove all loose and flaking paint using high pressure water cleaning back to a sound substrate
    • Remove all grease and oil using Bradite Industrial Degreaser TD39 — a second application may be required for stubborn stains
    • Power-floated, shiny, or non-porous concrete floors must be vacuum blast cleaned to a roughness profile of 30–50 microns, or acid etched using Bradite Acid Etch TA37
    • Fill all cracks and pits with a suitable screed or mortar before painting
    • Roughen intact areas of existing coatings by abrasive manual or disc rubbing and feather back to a sound coating edge
    • Confirm compatibility with existing coatings by preparing and painting a test patch before full application
    • Application and use should conform to BS 6150 and BS 5493 codes of practice
    Application
    • Stir thoroughly before use
    • For concrete, wood, or other absorbent substrates, thin the first coat with 5-10% water to allow penetration into the substrate
    • Apply two full coats - on bare absorbent surfaces, apply a 20% thinned priming coat first before the two full coats
    • Allow a minimum of 20 minutes surface drying time and a minimum of 1 hour before overcoating
    • Allow 16 hours minimum after the final coat before permitting light traffic
    • Allow 7 days for full cure - do not subject to heavy traffic for at least 48 hours after final coat
    • Do not apply below 5°C or when the surface temperature is less than 3°C above the dew point
    • Note that drying times will be prolonged at lower temperatures and higher humidity

    Thinning Guidelines

    • Brush & Roller: Supplied ready for use. Thin with up to 5% water if required
    • Conventional Air Spray: Thin with 5–15% water. Tip size 2.0mm, tip pressure 60psi (0.4MPa)
    • Airless Spray: Thin with 5–15% water. Tip size 18 thou (0.46mm), tip pressure 2100psi (15MPa)
    Aftercare & Storage
    • Allow a minimum of 16 hours after the final coat before permitting light foot traffic
    • Do not subject the surface to heavy traffic for at least 48 hours after the final coat
    • Allow 7 days for the coating to reach full cure before use in demanding conditions
    • Note that curing times will vary depending on film thickness, temperature, and relative humidity

    Ongoing Maintenance

    • Inspect line markings periodically for signs of wear, fading, or surface damage
    • For maintenance repainting, touch up bare areas with a first coat before applying full coats over the entire surface
    • Re-prepare and degrease the surface before any repainting using Bradite Industrial Degreaser TD39

    Equipment Care

    • Clean all brushes, rollers, and spray equipment with clean water immediately after use
    • Do not allow product to dry on tools or equipment

    FAQs

    Q. Can Bradite Roadline RL52 be used on all road and car park surfaces?

    A. RL52 is suitable for internal and external asphalt, bitumen, concrete, and brick surfaces that are dry, dust free, and free from contamination. It is also compatible with sound existing coatings including polyurethane, epoxy, and chlorinated rubber. Compatibility with existing coatings should always be confirmed with a test patch before full application.

    Q. How do I make Bradite Roadline RL52 non-slip?

    A. Bradite Roadline RL52 can be used in conjunction with Bradite Low Slip Additive LS30 to provide additional underfoot traction. Add one 250ml / 400g tin of LS30 per 5 litres of RL52 and mix thoroughly before application. Refer to the Bradite Low Slip Additive LS30 product datasheet for full instructions.
