Zinsser Covers Up is a low odour solvent-based aerosol that is a stain killer and touch up paint all in one. Formulated to block and seal most common ceiling stains in a flat white finish that will blend with most acoustic ceiling tiles and white paints. It can be used under and over water and oil based paints.

Before application, ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and sound. Free from dust, dirt, excessive chalk, grime, grease, oil, wax, mildew, wallpaper adhesive, or any contaminants that may affect adhesion. If in doubt, wash the surface using a solution of household ammonia and water or another appropriate cleaning product. Avoid using tri-sodium phosphate (TSP) based cleaners.

• Remove any loose or flaking coatings by scraping or sanding.
• Feather the edges of any remaining paint to create a smooth transition to bare surfaces.
• Treat any existing stains by washing, sanding, or scraping as needed.
• Remove mildew from interior surfaces using a mildew remover such as Zinsser Mould Killer & Remover.
• Countersink exposed nails, then spot-prime and fill.
• Use a wire brush on rusty areas to remove loose rust before priming.

For best results, follow these step-by-step instructions when applying this aerosol product:

• Shake Well Before and During Use: Before application, shake the can vigorously until the mixing ball inside begins to rattle, then continue shaking for at least one full minute. This ensures the product is properly mixed for consistent performance. Shake the can periodically during use to maintain an even spray and prevent clogging.
• Test Spray Pattern: Always test the spray pattern on a piece of scrap material or cardboard before beginning your project. This helps ensure you’re familiar with the spray control and provides a preview of the coverage.
• Mask Off Surrounding Areas: To protect adjacent surfaces, mask off nearby objects or areas not intended for treatment. This will help you achieve clean edges and reduce overspray.
• Maintain Proper Spray Distance: Hold the can 25–30 cm (10–12 inches) from the surface. Apply using light, even ‘dusting’ strokes, moving the can steadily across the surface to avoid drips, pooling, or uneven coverage.
• Tip: Several light coats provide better results than one heavy coat.
• Cleaning After Use: After spraying, clear the nozzle by inverting the can (holding it upside down) and spraying until only clear gas comes out. This prevents the nozzle from clogging between uses.
• If the spray tip becomes blocked, remove it carefully and clean with a pin or needle. Do not insert objects into the valve opening.

We offer a 14 day money back guarantee for all goods shipped correctly that are not required. If the item is not required, please send the item back for a full refund in its original condition, unused with its original packaging. Please note return for unwanted item is at your own expense.

All tinted paint purchases are final and non-refundable. If you're unsure about your selection, please refer to the product listing or contact us for guidance before ordering. Once mixed, tinted paints cannot be returned or refunded, regardless of delivery delays or changes in circumstances.

While we aim to meet delivery timelines, we are not responsible for delays caused by couriers, weather, or other external factors.

We recommend ordering samples or colour charts before purchasing. While we strive to represent colours accurately, screen settings and surface types can affect appearance. Opened tins cannot be returned due to dissatisfaction with colour.

Incorrect Item

Faulty Items

Faulty items can be refunded or exchanged within 30 days. All returns are tested, and if no fault is found, no refund will be issued you'll have the option to have the item returned. For faults discovered after 30 days, please contact the manufacturer for further support.
