Timbabuild Fine Finish Surface Filler - 300g

Timbabuild® Fine Finish Surface Filler, manufactured by Chemfix, is a high-strength, two-part wood filler designed to create a smooth, professional finish over Timbabuild wood repairs. It is ideal for filling small imperfections, pinholes, uneven areas and surface marks after a repair has been sanded.

Finish is supplied in a patented two-part cartridge system that dispenses the resin and hardener in the correct ratio, making it quick and simple to mix and apply. The system is designed to provide consistent results with minimal effort.

Once mixed, Finish can be applied as a thin top coat over Timbabuild repairs, helping to create a smooth, even surface ready for sanding and decorative finishing. It is fast curing and can be sanded after approximately 30 minutes at 20°C.

Finish can also be used independently as a durable, two-part wood filler for small timber repairs. The natural finish can be stained, varnished or painted, while its styrene-free formulation makes it suitable for indoor use with less odour.

Before application, ensure the surface is clean, dry and sound. When applying Finish over a Timbabuild repair, make sure the cured repair has been properly sanded and is free from surface dust and loose material.

1. Prepare the cartridge: Place the Finish cartridge into the appropriate extrusion tool. Remove the cap and plug. The plug can be discarded.
2. Dispense the product: Squeeze the required amount of material onto a clean, suitable mixing board. When using a new cartridge, discard the first 10 ml of material.
3. Mix thoroughly: Using a clean spatula, knife or similar tool, mix the two components until a smooth, evenly coloured and streak-free consistency is achieved.
4. Scrape while mixing: Scrape the filler clear of the mixing board and spatula at least once during mixing. This helps ensure that the resin and hardener are thoroughly combined and prevents unmixed material from being applied.

1. Apply Finish: Using a spatula, decorator's knife or similar suitable tool, spread a small amount of mixed FINISH over the prepared repair area.
2. Leave slightly proud: Apply enough material to fill any imperfections, pinholes or uneven areas, leaving the FINISH slightly proud of the surrounding surface so it can be sanded flush once cured.
3. Allow to cure: At approximately 20°C, Finish is ready to sand after around 30 minutes. Lower temperatures may increase the curing time.
4. Sand smooth: Once fully cured, sand the repair using a suitable fine-grit sandpaper until a smooth, even surface is achieved.
5. Decorative finishing: Remove sanding dust and follow the normal preparation procedure before painting, staining or varnishing. FINISH is compatible with most decorative wood finishes.
6. Reuse the cartridge: After use, replace the cartridge cap. Do not replace the plug. The remaining product can then be used again within its shelf life.

For best results: Use the Timbabuild Professional Silicone Tool for controlled, consistent extrusion. Its geared trigger action provides smooth application and helps ensure the resin and hardener are dispensed in the correct ratio.

Once FINISH has fully cured and has been sanded smooth, the repaired area can be finished with most suitable decorative wood coatings.

• Remove all sanding dust before applying paint, stain or varnish.
• Allow any decorative coating to dry and cure in accordance with the coating manufacturer's instructions.
• For exterior timber, ensure the repaired area is adequately protected with a suitable exterior wood coating to help prevent moisture ingress.
• Inspect repaired areas periodically for signs of cracking, coating failure or further timber deterioration.
• Maintain the surrounding paint or protective coating system to help protect the timber from moisture and weathering.
• Avoid exposing the repair to excessive moisture or heavy use until the complete repair and decorative coating system has fully cured.

Storage

Store Timbabuild FINISH in its original cartridge, with the cap securely fitted, in a suitable dry location away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

• Replace the cartridge cap after use; do not replace the plug.
• Keep the cartridge clean and free from contamination.
• Store in accordance with the manufacturer's recommended conditions.
• Keep away from excessive heat and sources of ignition.
• Do not use the product beyond its stated 18-month shelf life.
• Keep out of reach of children and follow the relevant safety information supplied with the product.
