Tikkurila Metallista 2-in-1 Paint - Tinted Colour Match

Tikkurila Metallista 2-in-1 is a high-performance water-based acrylic metal paint that combines primer and topcoat in one convenient product.

Designed for direct application to metal, it eliminates the need for separate priming while providing outstanding adhesion and long-lasting protection. Suitable for galvanised steel, stainless steel, PVC and previously painted metal surfaces, Metallista 2-in-1 forms a durable semi-matt finish with excellent resistance to corrosion, weathering and mechanical wear.

Available in thousands of colours, it is ideal for fences, railings, gates, garden furniture and other interior or exterior metal surfaces.

Tinted Colour Information

Tinted paint is custom mixed in house at Next Day Paint using our Tikkurila tinting machine. We mix the paint on site, which means we can offer our usual fast delivery with no extra delay. Tinted Colour Match paints can't be cancelled or returned as they are tinted to order. Note: Depending on the amount of colourant required to mix your chosen colour, there may be up to a 10% variant on the advertised paint volume.

Clean Up	Remove as much product as possible from the equipment before cleaning with water

Ensure the surface is clean, dry and at least 3°C above the dew point before painting. Apply only when the air and surface temperature are above +10°C and the relative humidity is below 80%. The surface temperature must not exceed +40°C, as excessive heat can cause rapid drying, poor adhesion and surface defects. For exterior applications, avoid painting when rain is forecast or when evening dew may form before the coating has fully dried.

Previously Painted Surfaces

• Clean thoroughly using Tikkurila Panssaripesu detergent and rinse with clean water.
• Remove all loose paint and rust using a scraper or wire brush, preparing corroded areas to bare metal (St2 preparation grade).
• Feather the edges between exposed metal and sound paintwork to create a smooth transition, then sand existing painted surfaces to a matt finish.
• Allow the surface to dry completely before painting.

Suitable for previously painted alkyd and acrylic-coated metal surfaces.

Unpainted Surfaces

• Remove dirt, grease, oil, water-soluble salts and any white rust inhibitors using Tikkurila Panssaripesu detergent.
• Rinse thoroughly and allow the surface to dry.
• Remove rust or white rust from metal surfaces by grinding or wire brushing to bare metal (St2 preparation grade).

Specific Substrates

• Steel: Remove all rust by grinding or wire brushing to bare metal (St2). For C2H corrosion protection classification, blast clean to Sa2½ standard (ISO 8501-1).
• Hot-Dip Galvanised Steel: Lightly abrade the surface by hand to improve adhesion.
• Aluminium: Clean with Tikkurila Maalipesu detergent and lightly abrade the surface.
• Stainless Steel: Abrade the surface by grinding to provide a suitable key for coating adhesion.

Always test a small area of the surface to be painted to ensure you are happy with the finished results.

The surfaces must be completely clean and dry before painting.

Do not thin.

• Stir slowly and thoroughly before use. Avoid mechanical stiring.
• Apply 1-2 coats with brush or spray. Avoid painting in hot sunlight, as the paint would dry too quickly and would not stabilise enough.
• For optimal performance, apply each coat to achieve a dry film thickness of 60–120 microns, with a total recommended dry film thickness of 120 microns. Ensure an even coating across the entire surface, paying particular attention to edges, corners and folds where maintaining consistent film thickness is essential.
• Handle with care until the paint will achieve its final hardness and durability in approx. 14 days.

Airless spray: Nozzle 0.011–0.015” or 0.280–0.380 mm – thinning 0–10%

Note: If using more than one tin of the same colour, intermix prior to use to ensure colour consistency. Check tinted product before application to avoid colour differences.

Handle painted surfaces with care, as the coating reaches its full hardness and durability after approximately two weeks under normal conditions.

If cleaning is required before then, use only a soft brush, damp cloth or mop. After one month, surfaces can be cleaned with a diluted solution of Tikkurila Talon Huoltopesu (1 part cleaner to 10 parts water) for routine maintenance. For stubborn stains or heavily soiled areas, a stronger 1:1 solution can be used. Always rinse thoroughly with clean water after washing and allow the surface to dry completely.

We recommend ordering samples or colour charts before purchasing. While we strive to represent colours accurately, screen settings and surface types can affect appearance. Opened tins cannot be returned due to dissatisfaction with colour.

Faulty Items

Faulty items can be refunded or exchanged within 30 days. All returns are tested, and if no fault is found, no refund will be issued you'll have the option to have the item returned. For faults discovered after 30 days, please contact the manufacturer for further support.
