Cetol Filter 7 Plus is a highly translucent, medium build, solvent borne woodstain for joinery with extra UV Protection. It provides long term weather protection due to a flexible, water-repellent coating film. It can be used as a two part system with a Cetol HLS base stain on bare wood.

  • Tinted Colour Information Tinted paint is custom mixed in house at Next Day Paint using our Sikkens tinting machine. We mix the paint on site, which means we can offer our usual fast delivery with no extra delay. Tinted Colour Match paints can't be cancelled or returned as they are tinted to order.

    Always ensure the surface to be treated is clean, dry and free from any dust, algae, fungi or moss.

    • Resinous deposits should be removed with a scraper

    • Degrease the surface with a lint free cloth and suitable solvent, allow to evaporate fully before applying Sikkens

    • For previously stained or worn wood use a fine sandpaper of 240 grit work in the direction of to abrade the surface the grain

    • Dust down entire surface

    • Fill any cracks, holes or chips, always use a filler designed for timber


    Before applying stir the product thoroughly and test a small area to ensure colour and adhesion. Colours can vary dependant on surface to be treated.

    • Do not apply when there is the risk of rain or when temperatures are below 5°C or above 30°C

    • Protect from frost and rain until dry

    • Always ensure product is fully mixed before and during application to ensure consistency in colour

    • Do not thin

    Sikkens Cetol HLS can be used as a basestain for joinery items prior to coating with Cetol Filter 7 plus

    • For application use a good quality, long-haired, soft bristle brush

    • Apply along the grain in even strokes and avoid over brushing

    • Use the minimum number of brushstrokes necessary to produce an acceptable finish

    • Pay special attention to areas of exposed grain, tops and bottoms of doors and undersides of cills

    • Allow a minimum of 16 hours drying time

    • The second coat should be applied to all exposed surfaces, as soon as possible after the first coat has dried, but no sooner than 16 hours

    • Additional preparation may be required if over 3 months between coats

    Note: Always follow the manufacturer instructions found on the tin.

We do our best to represent colours as accurately as possible however screens variations and different surfaces can alter this. Unfortunately in the event you do not like the colour we are unable to accept the product back if they it has been opened.

    Faulty Items

    If you find a fault with your product, we can offer a full refund or exchange within 30 days. We test every product that is returned to us, sadly if a product is found to have no fault we cannot refund this and the you will be given the option to have this returned to you. Please contact us to discuss these options. If you find fault after 30 days of purchase you may wish to contact the manufacturer directly as they will be able to offer support with the product.
