Overview
Sikkens Cetol BL Primer is a premium quality, water based primer with stain blocking properties on joinery & cladding. It’s formulated with stain blocking properties and to provide excellent adhesionand flexibility on timber. This low odour primer provides a sound base for subsequent coatings.

Preparation
Always ensure the surface to be treated is clean, dry and free from any dust, algae, fungi or moss.
• Resinous deposits should be removed with a scraper
• Degrease the surface with a lint free cloth and suitable solvent, allow to evaporate fully before applying Sikkens
• For previously painted or worn wood use a fine sandpaper of 240 grit work in the direction of to abrade the surface the grain remove any loose paint
• Dust down entire surface
• Fill any cracks, holes or chips, always use a filler designed for timber
Application
Before applying stir the product thoroughly and test a small area to ensure colour and adhesion. Colours can vary dependant on surface to be treated.
• Do not apply when there is the risk of rain or when temperatures are below 8°C or above 25°C
• Protect from frost and rain until dry
• Always ensure product is fully mixed before and during application to ensure consistency in colour and sheen
• Do not thin
• For best results use a good quality, synthetic-fibre brush designed for the application of water borne products
• The product should be applied in a full flowing coat, laying off in the direction of the grain, using the minimum number of brushstrokes necessary to produce an acceptable finish
• Avoid over brushing
• Apply 1 coats
• Allow 4 hours drying time if second coat is required
• Carefully denib the first coat using a fine grade nylon abrasive pad or a fine grade (P240 or finer) wet or dry silicon carbide abrasive paper, remove all dust
• Subsequent coatings should be applied as soon as possible after Cetol BL Primer has dried, but no sooner than 15 hours,in order to provide full protection and isolation of extractives
• On new wood were possible the first coat should be applied all round prior to fixing
• Pay special attention to areas of exposed grain e.g tops and bottoms of doors
