Rustins Quick Dry Small Job is the perfect solution for tackling smaller painting tasks with ease and precision. This water-based, hardwearing paint is suitable for both interior and exterior use, drying to the touch in just 30 minutes, ideal for quick updates and creative projects around the home.
Formulated for use on wood and metal, it can be applied over Rustins Quick Dry Primer Undercoat or directly onto existing paint and varnish. Plus, it meets Toy Safety Regulations (BS EN 71 Part 3: 1995), making it a safe and stylish choice for children’s toys and furniture.
Available in vibrant, decorative shades including Poppy Red, Buttercup, Oxford Blue, Candy Pink, and more, there’s a colour to suit every project.

For a flawless finish, good preparation is key.
- Ensure the surface is clean, smooth, dry, and free from wax, dust, and contaminants.
- For bare wood or metal, apply a suitable primer and undercoat first:
- Use Rustin's Quick Dry Red Oxide Primer on metal.
- Use Rustin's Quick Dry Primer & Undercoat on wood.
- For previously painted surfaces, clean thoroughly with Rustin’s Surface Cleaner or Rustins Sugar Soap, then lightly sand to help the new paint adhere.
- Fill any cracks or imperfections with a suitable filler.
- If desired, an undercoat may be applied to enhance coverage and finish.
- Take the time to prep properly, it makes all the difference in the final result!
- Apply light, even coats using a good-quality brush designed for water-based paints.
- For best results, avoid heavy application, two light coats are better than one thick coat.
- One coat is usually sufficient, but a second may be applied if needed.
- Touch dry: Within 30 minutes, depending on temperature and humidity.
- Recoat time: Allow 3-4 hours between coats.
- Apply when temperatures are between 15-25°C.
- Do not apply if temperature is below 10°C, in high humidity, or if rain is likely before the paint has fully dried.
Q. Is Quick Dry Small Job Paint safe to use on children’s toys and furniture?
A. Yes! This paint conforms to the Toy Safety Regulations BS EN 71 Part 3 (1995), making it safe for use on children’s toys, furniture, and other items where safety is a top priority.
Delivery - All orders placed on a working day before 3pm will be dispatched on the same day for next working day delivery. Orders placed before 3pm on Friday will be delivered on Monday (excluding bank holidays). Orders placed after 3pm on Friday, weekends and Bank Holidays will be dispatched on the next working day.
Delivery of Tinted Products - Tinted paints are dispatched in line with our express order process, shown below. However, due to their bespoke nature, please allow up to an additional 5 working days to accommodate any potential courier delays or delivery issues before receiving a refund or replacement.
We strongly suggest customers avoid booking tradespeople until they receive their order. Next Day Paint will not be held liable for any costs incurred due to order processing errors, delivery delays, or other issues that may result in financial loss.

We recommend ordering samples or colour charts before purchasing. While we strive to represent colours accurately, screen settings and surface types can affect appearance. Opened tins cannot be returned due to dissatisfaction with colour.
