Transform tired furniture with a soft-touch, washable matt finish that lasts. Rust-Oleum Washable Matt Furniture Paint applies directly to wood (bare or painted), brick, stone, plaster, most plastics, paper, and any suitably primed rigid surface, no primer needed in most cases.
Good preparation is the key to a long-lasting, durable finish:
- Clean thoroughly - the surface must be smooth, clean, dry and completely free from wax, polish, grease, oil or other contaminants that can cause adhesion problems.
- Sand glossy surfaces - previously painted or varnished furniture should be lightly abraded to provide a key for the paint.
- Prime bare metal - use a suitable metal primer before painting.
- Block stains first - knots, resinous timber and tannin-rich woods (such as oak and mahogany) should be treated with an appropriate stain-blocking primer to prevent bleed-through.
Always test first on a small, inconspicuous area to confirm suitability and colour. Coverage varies depending on application method, application rate and the porosity of the surface.
- Stir thoroughly before use to ensure a consistent colour and finish.
- Check conditions - apply only when the temperature is between 10-32°C and humidity is below 85% to ensure proper drying.
- Apply by brush or short-nap mohair roller. When brushing, work evenly and follow the grain of the wood for the smoothest result.
- Apply two coats for best coverage and durability, allowing 2 hours between coats.
Delivery - All orders placed on a working day before 3pm will be dispatched on the same day for next working day delivery. Orders placed before 3pm on Friday will be delivered on Monday (excluding bank holidays). Orders placed after 3pm on Friday, weekends and Bank Holidays will be dispatched on the next working day.
Delivery of Tinted Products - Tinted paints are dispatched in line with our express order process, shown below. However, due to their bespoke nature, please allow up to an additional 5 working days to accommodate any potential courier delays or delivery issues before receiving a refund or replacement.
We strongly suggest customers avoid booking tradespeople until they receive their order. Next Day Paint will not be held liable for any costs incurred due to order processing errors, delivery delays, or other issues that may result in financial loss.
