Rust-oleum Stain Blocking Primer is a high-performance, solvent-based, primer-sealer, and stain killer all in one. Formulated for both interior and exterior it can be used to cover rust, smoke, nicotine, ink, graffiti, crayon, and water stains to ensure they don't bleed into the topcoat. This fast drying, high-adhesion primer leaves you with a smooth, durable finish on a wide range of surfaces including wood, metal, plastic, glass, and more.

Ensure the surface to be painted is clean, dry and free from dirt, grease and any other possible contaminants prior to application. Excessive chalky material, grime, grease, oil, wax, mould, or wallpaper adhesive.

• Wash the surface with a household cleaner, cleaning solution or methalyated spirit.
• Remove any unsound or flaking material by either sanding or brushing with a stiff brush.
• Lightly sand any exposed exterior wood with an 80 or 100 grit sandpaper to remove loose or weathered wood fibres.
• When painting stained areas always attempt to remove as much of the stain as possible by washing, sanding or scraping.
• Remove exterior mould with a fungicidal wash and remove interior mould with an interior mould cleaner such as Zinsser Mould Killer & Remover
• Remove rust with a wire brush
• Fill any holes or cracks with an appropriate filler

We always recommend performing a test on a small area of the surface to be painted to ensure you are happy with the finished results.

• Throughly stir the paint prior to application.
• Ensure the area is well ventilated and there are no sources of ignition during application.
• Apply with a natural or synthetic brush.
• Most surfaces will only require one coat, however, porous wood may require two coats.

Q. Can Rust-Oleum Universal All Surface Brush on Stain Block Primer Paint be painted directly on top of a glossed surface?

A. This can be applied to glossy surfaces but you will need to ensure the glossed finish is sanded and well keyed. The surface needs to be smooth, clean, dry and free from any dirt and grease before applying this product.

While we aim to meet delivery timelines, we are not responsible for delays caused by couriers, weather, or other external factors.

We recommend ordering samples or colour charts before purchasing. While we strive to represent colours accurately, screen settings and surface types can affect appearance. Opened tins cannot be returned due to dissatisfaction with colour.

Incorrect Item

Faulty Items

Faulty items can be refunded or exchanged within 30 days. All returns are tested, and if no fault is found, no refund will be issued you'll have the option to have the item returned. For faults discovered after 30 days, please contact the manufacturer for further support.
