- Rust-Oleum's Chalky Furniture Paint is an easy-to-use product that does not require a primer however do ensure the surface is sound and fill any gaps prior to application to ensure a smooth finish
- Bare wood, old paint, or varnish simply need to be wiped down
We always recommend performing a small test patch prior to application to ensure you are happy with the finished results.
- Stir the paint thoroughly prior to use to ensure a consistent colour
- Apply using a good quality synthetic brush in the direction of the wood grain
- Only apply in temperatures above 10°C
- Apply 1-2 coats, leaving 4 hours between coats
For a distressed Look
- Apply a base coat of colour as above ensure to stir the paint thoroughly
- Use a good quality synthetic brush and paint in the direction of the wood grain
- Leave to dry for 4 hours and apply one coat of top colour
- Once dried, use a fine grade sandpaper, 240 grit, to lightly sand the surface and reveal the base colour

Q. Can Rust-Oleum Chalk Chalky Furniture Paint be applied onto previously painted furniture?
A. Yes, this can be applied onto new or previously painted surfaces. You just need to ensure the surface is sanded, clean and free from any dirt and grease. You can use white spirit to clean the surface.
Q. Can Rust-Oleum Chalk Chalky Furniture Paint block stains?
A. No, this product is not formulated to block stains, you will require to prime the surface before applying the top coat. We recommend using the Zinsser BIN to block and kill stains.
Q. What is the shelf life of Rust-Oleum Chalk Chalky Furniture Paint?
A. 2 years (unopened) from the date of manufacturer which can be seen on the base of the tin.
