Proper surface preparation ensures optimal adhesion and long-lasting corrosion protection. Follow these steps before applying Combiprimer® Anti-Rust Primer:

• Clean the surface: Remove all grease, oil, and contaminants using alkaline cleaning or high-pressure (steam) cleaning with suitable detergents.
• Remove loose material: Scrape or wire brush away rust scale, loose mill scale, loose rust, and flaking coatings to St 2/3 standard (ISO 8501-1:1988).
• Roughen intact coatings: Lightly sand existing coatings to promote adhesion of the primer.
• Ensure dryness: The surface must be completely clean and dry before application.

Following these steps ensures a smooth, durable primer layer and maximizes the performance of subsequent topcoats.

To achieve optimal adhesion and corrosion protection, follow these application guidelines:

• Stir the primer thoroughly before use to ensure homogeneity.
• Air, substrate, and coating temperature: 5-35°C. Relative humidity: below 85%
• Substrate temperature must be at least 3°C above dew point

Brush:

• Thin up to 10% with Rust-Oleum Thinner 7301
• Use natural bristle, long-hair brushes for smooth, even coverage

Roller:

• Thin up to 10% with Rust-Oleum Thinner 7301
• Use medium nap rollers (8-12 mm)
• Two coats may be required to achieve the recommended dry film thickness

Air-Atomised Spray:

• Thin 10-20% with Rust-Oleum Thinner 7301
• Suitable for gravity cup or pressure cup spraying
• Tip size: 1.2-1.8 mm, atomising pressure: 2-4 bar

Q. How long should I wait before recoating with a topcoat?

A. Combiprimer® Anti-Rust Primer 3369/3380 is recoatable after 2 hours under normal conditions (5–35°C, <85% humidity). This fast drying time allows projects to be completed quickly without compromising durability.

Faulty Items
