Proper surface preparation is essential to ensure maximum adhesion and long-lasting coating performance. Before applying COMBIPRIMER® Adhesion Primer 3302, all substrates must be clean, dry, and free from contaminants.

• Remove grease and oil: Clean thoroughly using alkaline cleaning methods or high-pressure washing combined with appropriate detergents.
• Remove existing coatings: Strip previous paint layers completely to ensure proper adhesion.
• Eliminate salts and white rust: Wash galvanised or zinc surfaces with RUST-OLEUM® Surfa-Etch 108 Etching Solution to remove salts, oxidation, and ‘white rust’.
• Ensure dryness: The surface must be completely clean and dry before application.

Following these preparation steps will optimise bonding performance and ensure your topcoat achieves maximum durability and protection.

For optimal adhesion and coverage, follow these application guidelines:

• Stir the primer thoroughly before use to ensure homogeneity.
• Air, substrate, and coating temperature: 5-35°C. Relative humidity: below 85%
• Substrate temperature must be at least 3°C above dew point
• Use natural bristle, long-hair brushes for smooth and even application.
• Apply evenly to the prepared surface, ensuring complete coverage of the substrate.
• Can be recoated with RUST-OLEUM® CombiColor topcoats after 30 minutes, depending on temperature and ventilation.
• Recoat as soon as possible after 30 minutes to avoid dust/dirt entrapment in the tacky coat.

A. Yes. COMBIPRIMER® Adhesion Primer 3302 is specifically designed for bare metal surfaces, including steel and galvanised metal. Proper surface preparation, including cleaning and degreasing, ensures optimal adhesion for subsequent topcoats.

Q. How quickly can I apply a topcoat over COMBIPRIMER® 3302?

A.The primer can be recoated after just 30 minutes under normal conditions (5–35°C and <85% humidity). This fast recoating time helps speed up projects while maintaining strong adhesion and durability.
