Preparation
Always ensure the surface to be treated is clean, dry and free from any dust, algae, fungi or moss.
• To clean decking give it a good brush with a stiff broom to remove any dirt, debris or loose wood
• Check the surface of the decking for loose screws or boards and ensure these are tightened
• If the decking has been previously stained, painted or varnished, we recommend you strip it back to the bare wood. For previously stained decking use Ronseal Decking Stripper
• If your deck has been previously oiled, don't try to cover a dark oil with a lighter colour. You'll need to strip it first using Ronseal Decking Stripper
• Prior to application Ronseal Decking Restorer to take the deck back to its natural colour. This also helps the oil to soak in, so your deck will look great for longer
• If your decking has been effected by algae, fungi or clean with Cuprinol Decking Cleaner
New decking
• Most new decks come with a bit of waterproofing protection. This could stop the oil from sticking. To avoid this, give your new deck a good scrub with Ronseal Decking Cleaner & Reviver. Alternatively, leave it to weather for six months.
Application
Thoroughly shake tin, test a small area of deck to ensure you are happy with finish and colour.
• Thoroughly shake the tin to ensure the contents is mixed together
• Pour the contents into a container or tray
• If using more than one tin, mix together to ensure a consistant colour
• Apply the oil from the furthest corner in the direction of the grain
• Work on 3-4 boards at a time
• Wipe away excess oil with a lint-free cloth
• Allow to dry for 6 hours then apply the second coat
• It will be rainproof after 2 hours
• Allow 24 hours before moving furniture back onto your deck
Note: Always follow the manufacturer instructions found on the tin.
Aftercare & Storage
Cleaning
Don’t empty any left over oil into drains or watercourses. Store in a cool dry place and out of direct sunlight.
Maintenance
To keep your finish looking its best for longer, regularly clean your deck and remove leaves, mould, mildew, algae and any other dirt. Mould and algae should be removed with decking cleaner, general dust and dirt can be tackled with a stiff wire broom.
Inspect your coating every six months to look out for any chips or patches. Re-coat the patch when necessary.
Delivery
All orders placed on a working day before 3pm will be dispatched on the same day for next working day delivery. Orders placed before 3pm on Friday will be delivered on Monday (excluding bank holidays). Orders placed on weekends and Bank Holidays will be dispatched on the next working day.

If you find a fault with your product, we can offer a full refund or exchange within 30 days. We test every product that is returned to us, sadly if a product is found to have no fault we cannot refund this and the you will be given the option to have this returned to you.
