FAQs

Q: What are the differences between DRY FLEX® 1, 4, and 16?

Ans: The main difference between DRY FLEX® 1, 4, and 16 is their working time and curing speed , making each one suitable for different types of timber repairs:

DRY FLEX® 1

  • Repair thickness - 5-10mm (at 10-25ºC), 5 – 15mm (at 0 – 10ºC)
  • Ready for Sanding and Painting - After 1 hour
  • Application Temperature - 0-25ºC
  • Application period at 20ºC - 15-20 minutes
  • Pre-treat with DRY FIX® UNI
  • Best for small, urgent repairs or when you need a quick turnaround on site

DRY FLEX® 4

  • Repair Thickness - 5 -20mm (at 10 – 35ºC), 5 – 50mm (at 0 – 10ºC)
  • Ready for sanding and painting - After 4 hours
  • Application temperature - 0 – 35ºC
  • Application period at 20ºC - 20 – 25 minutes
  • Pre-treat with DRY FIX® UNI
  • Ideal for medium-sized repairs where a balance of working time and speed is

DRY FLEX® 16

  • Repair thickness - 5 – 50mm
  • Ready for sanding and painting - After 16 hours (overnight cure)
  • Application temperature - 10 – 35ºC
  • Application period at 20ºC - 1.5 – 2 hours
  • Pre-treat with DRY FIX® UNI
  • Perfect for large, deep, or detailed repairs that require more time to shape and finish

All three options are long-lasting, weather-resistant and designed for both interior and exterior timber.

Important: Always apply Repair Care Dri Fix Uni to the wood before applying any DRY FLEX® product. This ensures proper adhesion and long-term performance.

The numbers refer to approximate drying times in hours (at 20 degrees) DRY FLEX® 16 is ideal for larger projects where time is not a factor DRY FLEX® 4 is suitable for small and large repairs that need completing within a day. DRY FLEX® 1 is suitable for fast, small repairs from 5 - 10 mm in depth, for example emergency response maintenance.

Q: How do I know if I’ve mixed DRY FLEX® properly?

Ans: Mix both parts until the colour is uniform and streak-free. Incomplete mixing can lead to soft spots or failed curing. Always mix on a clean, flat mixing board using a spatula until the colour is even. You can refer to Repair Care Mixing Plate or Repair Care EASY Q Mix and Fix Set

Q: Can I apply Dry Flex if the wood is damp?

Ans: DRY FLEX® should only be applied to dry wood. If the substrate is damp, allow it to dry completely or use Repair Care Wood Condition Meter . Applying to wet wood can result in poor adhesion and failure over time.
