Johnstone’s Trade Stormshield Aqua Guard Exterior Primer Undercoat is a premium water-based coating formulated for exterior wood. This high-performance primer undercoat provides strong adhesion to both bare and previously painted surfaces. Stain blocking, it prevents resin bleed-through when applied to bare surfaces, ensuring a smooth and consistent base ready for topcoat. Tinted Colour Information

Tinted paint is custom mixed in house at Next Day Paint using our Jonhstone's Trade tinting machine. We mix the paint on site, which means we can offer our usual fast delivery with no extra delay.

Tinted Colour Match paints can't be cancelled or returned as they are tinted to order.

A tinted primer can be used to help obtain the true depth of colour for your top coat or to reduce the amount of coats required when a drastic colour change is occurring. A tinted primer will not necessarily be the same colour as your selected topcoat. It will be tinted towards the topcoat colour and generally lighter in shade. For example if your topcoat is black your primer may be a shade of grey. If you are unsure about when a tinted primer is required please contact us and we can advise further.

Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from dirt and grease.

• Remove any loose or flaking material
• For maximum performance from this microporous product, completely remove old paint and varnish. Treat any mould or lichen with sterilisation wash as directed. Treat bare wood surfaces with a suitable clear wood preservative.
• For bare timber, apply one coat of Johnstone's Trade Stormshield Aqua Guard Exterior Primer Undercoat followed by two coats of Johnstone's Trade Stormshield Aqua Guard Exterior Gloss or Satin.
• Prime bare metal with an appropriate metal primer.
• Rub down previously gloss painted surfaces with fine waterproof abrasive paper and rinse thoroughly before applying a pre-coat of Johnstone’s Trade Stormshield Aqua Guard Exterior Primer Undercoat.
• Uncoated plastic rainwater products should be cleaned thoroughly, primed with a single coat of Johnstone’s Trade Advanced Multi Surface Primer and given two coats of Johnstone’s Trade Stormshield Aqua Guard Exterior Satin or Gloss.

Always test a small area of the surface to be painted to ensure you are happy with the finished results

• Stir thoroughly before use to ensure the paint is completely mixed.
• Stormshield Aqua Guard Exterior Primer Undercoat can be applied by brush, roller or sprayer. For best results use a synthetic brush. Avoid overspreading
• 2 coats are recommended on highly resinous surfaces.
• Sprayer application: HVLP application: 1.8-2.0mm tip size. Spray pressure: 0,3-0,4 MPa (= approx. 3-4 bar). Can be diluted 5-10% Airless spray application: 0.008"-0.010". 2000–2500psi. Undiluted. Must use Ultra Finish tips.
• Ensure good ventilation during application and drying.
• If using more than one can of the same colour, intermix prior to use to ensure colour consistency.
• Do not apply in temperatures below 8°C or externally when rain is imminent.
• Additional coats may be required with certain colours, or attempting a wide colour change.

Note: To ensure the paint system achieves its life expectancy the product must be applied in accordance with a project specic Johnstone’s Trade Technical Specication and BS 6150:2019, Code of Practice for Painting Buildings.

We offer a 14 day money back guarantee for all goods shipped correctly that are not required. If the item is not required, please send the item back for a full refund in its original condition, unused with its original packaging. Please note return for unwanted item is at your own expense.

While we aim to meet delivery timelines, we are not responsible for delays caused by couriers, weather, or other external factors.

We recommend ordering samples or colour charts before purchasing. While we strive to represent colours accurately, screen settings and surface types can affect appearance. Opened tins cannot be returned due to dissatisfaction with colour.

Incorrect Item

Faulty Items

Faulty items can be refunded or exchanged within 30 days. All returns are tested, and if no fault is found, no refund will be issued you'll have the option to have the item returned. For faults discovered after 30 days, please contact the manufacturer for further support.
