HB42 Ultimate Grab Adhesive - White - 290ml

HB42 Ultimate Super Grab Adhesive is a trade strength adhesive built on instant grab technology, giving bond strength almost double that of standard grab adhesives. It bonds even in wet conditions, adheres to an exceptionally wide range of surfaces, and is designed as a complete fixing solution that eliminates the need for secondary support in most applications.

From large panels and wallboards to windowsills, dado rails, brick slips, cladding and sanitary fixtures, HB42 Super Grab handles heavy-duty fixing jobs both internally and externally. It bonds to glass, wood, enamel, painted surfaces, plasterboard, coated metals, Perspex, concrete, plastics, polycarbonates, PVCu, zinc, stainless steel, copper, lead, anodised aluminium, and epoxy or polyester panels.

Limitations: Not recommended for use on PE, PP, Teflon, wax, neoprene or bituminous surfaces. Not suitable as a joint sealant. An adhesion test is recommended prior to full application. Contains N-(3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl)ethylenediamine and related substances, which may cause an allergic reaction - refer to the safety data sheet before use.

• Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry and free from dust, grease and loose material.
• Carry out an adhesion test on the intended substrate before full application, especially on unfamiliar or coated materials.
• Cut the cartridge seal and screw on the pre-cut 'V' nozzle - this controls the correct depth of adhesive extruded.
• Load the cartridge into a skeleton gun for application.

• Apply HB42 Super Grab Adhesive to one surface only, in vertical strips approximately 30cm apart.
• Immediately place the item into position and apply even pressure across the surface to achieve good initial grab.
• For heavy items, use temporary support while the adhesive cures.
• For overhead applications, always use a mechanical fixing in addition to the adhesive.
• Apply at room temperature for optimum flow when using a skeleton gun.

Tip: Working within the +5°C to +40°C application range gives the best flow and initial grab performance.

Aftercare & Curing

• Keep fixed items supported (temporary support or mechanical fixings where recommended) until the adhesive has fully cured.
• Skin formation begins in around 10–15 minutes at 23°C / 55% RH, but full cure takes longer depending on bond line thickness and conditions.
• Once cured, the bond is weatherproof and water resistant, suitable for both internal and external use.
• Avoid disturbing or loading the fixed item until initial grab and cure are established.

Clean Up

• Wipe away excess uncured adhesive immediately using a dry cloth or paper towel.
• Uncured residue on tools and non-porous surfaces can be removed with a suitable solvent cleaner.
• Once cured, the adhesive is solvent-resistant and can only be removed mechanically (e.g. scraping or sanding).
• Reseal or replace the nozzle after use to prevent the cartridge curing in storage.

Storage

Store cartridges in cool, dry conditions between +5°C and +25°C. Under these conditions, shelf life is 12 months. Frost resistant down to -15°C during transport.

Q. Can HB42 Super Grab Adhesive really bond in wet or underwater conditions?

A. Yes. Unlike most grab adhesives, HB42 Super Grab is formulated to bond even in wet conditions, including underwater, making it suitable for sanitary fixtures and exterior applications exposed to moisture.

Q. Do I still need screws or mechanical fixings when using this adhesive?

A. For most vertical and lightweight fixings, HB42 Super Grab is designed to eliminate the need for secondary support. However, for heavy items temporary support is recommended during curing, and for overhead applications a mechanical fixing should always be used alongside the adhesive.
