Preparation

For best results, ensure new, bare wood is clean and dry before treatment.

  • Previously treated wood should be sanded to provide the best finish.
  • Waxes should be removed with white spirit.
  • Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces as they may contain harmful lead.
Application

Ensure to always follow the manufacturer's instructions found on the tin. Stir thoroughly, it is recommended that a small test area is applied before treating the entire surface to ensure compatibility.

  • Apply using a brush or cloth only
  • Do not thin
  • If treating bare wood apply 3 coats, working in the direction of the woodgrain
  • Do not over apply the oil as drying times will be extended
  • Allow a minimum of 16 hours between coats

N.B. Risk of self-ignition of used cleaning cloths. Contaminated materials should be soaked in warm, soapy water and placed in a metal container before disposal. If treating bare wood apply 3 coats of Dulux Trade Danish Oil, allowing a minimum of 16 hours between coats.

Aftercare & Storage
Cleaning up - After use, remove as much of the Dulux Trade Danish Oil as possible from brushes before cleaning with brush cleaner. Take extra care when disposing of items such as cleaning rags and paper wipes as there is a risk of self-ignition. Contaminated materials should be soaked in warm, soapy water and placed in a closed metal container before disposal.

FAQs

Q. Can any use Dulux Trade Danish Oil or is it for professional use?

A. Dulux Trade Danish Oil is easy to apply, even for those with limited experience in wood finishing. It is usually applied by brushing or wiping the oil onto the wood surface, allowing it to penetrate and then wiping off any excess oil. The oil has a low viscosity, making it easy to spread evenly and achieve a smooth finish.

Q. What does Dulux Trade Danish Oil look like on wood?

A. Danish oil is known for its ability to bring out the natural beauty of wood. It enriches the wood's colour and highlights the grain patterns, giving the surface a warm and attractive appearance. This makes it a popular choice for showcasing the natural features of wooden furniture, floors, and other woodwork.

Q. Will Dulux Trade Danish Oil protect wood?

A. Danish oil provides excellent protection for wood surfaces. It penetrates deep into the wood fibers, nourishing and enhancing the natural beauty of the wood while also forming a protective barrier against moisture, stains, and scratches. This helps to extend the lifespan of the wood and keep it looking good for longer.
