Dowsil 785+ Bacteria-resistant Sanitary Silicone Sealant is a premium, one-part silicone sealant, designed to deliver protection and durability when sealing baths, showers, sinks, urinals and ceramic tile joints. The formula ensures a long-lasting, hygienic seal that withstands tough conditions and protects against salmonella, E.coli and MRSA, while still providing excellent adhesion to most non-porous surfaces, including ceramics and porcelain.

Ensure that all surfaces to be sealed are clean, dry, sound, and free from frost, grease, dust, old sealants, and other contaminants that could affect adhesion.

• For non-porous surfaces, clean and degrease by wiping with a suitable solvent, such as DOWSIL™ R-40 Universal Cleaner, on a clean, oil- and lint-free cloth. Make sure the surface is thoroughly dry before proceeding with sealant application.
• For porous substrates (such as concrete, brick, or mortar), clean surfaces by using a steel brush, sanding disc, or other mechanical means to remove any loose particles and debris.
• Ensure the substrate is suitable for bonding with the silicone sealant. It is recommended to test adhesion on a small area to ensure compatibility, especially when working with various coatings or finishes.
• Priming may be necessary for certain surfaces, particularly porous ones, to ensure optimal adhesion.
• Mask areas adjacent to the joint with tape to prevent contamination of the substrates and ensure a neat sealant line.
• Always ensure adequate ventilation when using any solvent-based cleaning products or when working in confined spaces.

By following these preparation steps, you will ensure that the surface is clean and ready for the application of DOWSIL™ 785+ Bacteria Resistant Sanitary Silicone Sealant, promoting optimal adhesion and performance.

The silicone sealant is ready for immediate use. Cut the tip off the cartridge and screw on the nozzle and cut the nozzle to the desired bead size. We recommend using the Geocel Cox Skeleton Gun for application.

• If back-up material is required, use closed cell polyethylene backer rod to ensure the correct sealant depth. For joints that are too shallow for backer rods, use low tack polyethylene tape to support the sealant and prevent three-sided adhesion.
• Mask areas adjacent to the joint with tape to prevent contamination and ensure a clean, neat sealant line. Remove the masking tape immediately after tooling the sealant for a sharp, defined edge.
• Apply DOWSIL™ 785+ Silicone Sealant in a continuous bead directly into the joint, ensuring full contact with the surfaces on both sides.
Use a caulking gun or manual cartridge gun for controlled application. Ensure the sealant is extruded smoothly without air pockets.
• Tool the sealant within 5 minutes of application to ensure good adhesion between the sealant and substrate for best results we recommend using Bedec Silicone Profilers.
• The minimum joint width for DOWSIL™ 785+ Silicone Sealant should be 6mm.
• For joints that are 6–12mm wide, the seal depth should be 6mm.
• For joints wider than 12mm, a width to depth ratio of 2:1 should be maintained to allow for proper movement and performance.
• In situations where fillet joints are required, ensure a minimum of 6mm sealant bite to each substrate.
• DOWSIL™ 785+ Silicone Sealant cures by reacting with moisture in the air. Allow the sealant to cure fully before subjecting it to any physical stress or water exposure.
• Curing times will vary depending on temperature and humidity but typically take 24 hours for full cure. Ensure the joint is not disturbed during this time.

A. This sealant is ideal for use in kitchens, bathrooms, showers, wet rooms, and other sanitary areas. It is perfect for sealing joints around bathtubs, sinks, toilets, countertops, and other areas exposed to high levels of moisture and frequent cleaning.

Q. Can DOWSIL™ 785+ Silicone Sealant be painted?

A. No, DOWSIL™ 785+ Silicone Sealant should not be painted over. Silicone sealants typically do not bond well with paints, and doing so could compromise the performance and appearance of the seal.

Q. How should I clean the surface before applying DOWSIL™ 785+ Silicone Sealant?

A. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free from contaminants such as dust, grease, or old sealants. Clean non-porous surfaces with a solvent like DOWSIL™ R-40 Universal Cleaner. For porous surfaces, use a brush or mechanical cleaning methods to remove any loose debris.

• AM Delivery: Get your order by 2pm
  If placed on a working day before 3pm, the AM Delivery will be dispatched on the same day for Next Working Day delivery. 
  Orders placed before 3pm on Friday will be delivered on Monday AM (excluding bank holidays). Orders placed on weekends and Bank Holidays will be dispatched on the next working day for delivery on the following AM. All orders have a charge of £12.99 for AM delivery.

• Late Cut-Off: Get an extra hour to place your order for Next Working Day delivery.
  Orders placed on a working day before 4pm will be dispatched on the same day for Next Working Day delivery. 
  Orders placed before 4pm on Friday will be delivered on Monday (excluding bank holidays). Orders placed on weekends and Bank Holidays will be dispatched on the next working day. All orders have a charge of £5.99 for Late Cut-Off delivery.

• Saturday Delivery: Get your order on Saturday
  Option available on Fridays. Orders placed on Friday before 3pm will be delivered on Saturday. All orders have a charge of £9.95 for Saturday delivery.

We offer a 14 day money back guarantee for all goods shipped correctly that are not required. If the item is not required, please send the item back for a full refund in its original condition, unused with its original packaging. Please note return for unwanted item is at your own expense.
