DOWSIL™ ecoSEAL 785+ Sanitary Silicone Sealant is a high-performance one-part silicone sealant designed for sealing sanitary fittings such as baths, showers, sinks, and ceramic tile joints. It offers advanced protection against bacteria growth, including harmful strains like Salmonella, E. coli, and MRSA, thanks to its built-in fungicide that helps prevent mould. The sealant features a fast cure time, becoming tack-free in just 30 minutes, and has a joint movement capability of +/-20%. Ensure that all surfaces to be sealed are clean, dry, sound, and free from grease. For non-porous surfaces, clean with DOWSIL™ R-40 Universal Cleaner or methylated spirits, then dry thoroughly with a clean, lint-free cloth that is free of oil.

Note: When using any solvent, ensure proper ventilation. Avoid heat, sparks, and open flames, and wear solvent-resistant gloves. Always follow the safety precautions listed on the solvent container label.

For best results ensure adequate preparation is preformed before application.

• To ensure a clean and neat application, mask areas adjacent to the joints with tape. This prevents contamination of surrounding surfaces and ensures a straight, uniform sealant line. Remove the masking tape immediately after tooling for a crisp finish.
• For joints that require backup material, a closed-cell polyethylene backer rod is recommended.
• In shallow joints, use low-tack polyethylene tape as a backer. These materials help provide proper back pressure and prevent three-sided adhesion, ensuring optimal sealant movement.
• Tool the joint within 5 minutes of applying the sealant to ensure good contact with the substrate. Tooling also provides a smooth, professional finish, ensuring long-lasting performance.
• The sealant joint width should accommodate the movement capability of the sealant.
• Minimum joint width for DOWSIL 785 Sanitary Acetoxy Silicone should be 6 mm.
• For joints between 6–12 mm wide, a seal depth of 6 mm is required.
• For joints wider than 12 mm, use a width-to-depth ratio of 2:1.
• For fillet joints, ensure a minimum of 6 mm sealant bite to each substrate.
