Proper surface preparation is essential to ensure optimal adhesion and performance of Coo-Var All Metals Primer. Please follow the steps below:

• Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from grease, oil, dust, rust, and other contaminants.
• Remove any oil or grease using Coo-Var Universal Degreaser before proceeding with surface preparation.
• Steel and Bare Metals: Surfaces should be free from dust, rust, and scale.
• Blast cleaning to SA 2½ standard is recommended for best results.
• If blast cleaning is not possible, use mechanical cleaning methods. Note that hand cleaning is not sufficient to achieve the required surface condition.
• For assemblies cleaned after fabrication, pay special attention to edges, corners, welds, nuts, bolts, and other intricate areas.
• Welds should be ground smooth if needed, and all slag, weld spatter, and debris must be fully removed.
• Aluminium and Weathered Galvanised Surfaces: These surfaces must be degreased and abraded to ensure proper primer adhesion.
• New Galvanised Surfaces: Treat with Coo-Var Mordant Solution before applying the primer to ensure proper surface preparation and compatibility.

Mix thoroughly before use to ensure an even, consistent finish. Ensure all surfaces have been prepared in accordance with the Surface Preparation Instructions.

• Apply using brush, roller, or airless spray, depending on the project requirements and surface area.
• Apply in even coats to achieve optimal coverage and adhesion.
• Do not apply if the temperature is at or below 7°C during painting or drying.
• Always apply under conditions of good painting practice, ensuring that the surface temperature is above the dew point to prevent moisture-related issues.
• In confined or enclosed spaces, ensure adequate ventilation throughout both the application and drying process.
