Overview

Capacryl TriMaXX Venti is a water-thinnable, all-round lacquer that combines the durability of solvent-based enamels with the healthier, faster-drying benefits of water-based technology. Suitable for interior and exterior use, it’s perfect for dimensionally stable and limited-dimensionally stable wooden components such as windows and doors, as well as primed metal and rigid PVC surfaces.

Using innovative bimodal binder technology, TriMaXX Venti contains 15% more solids than standard water-based enamels, delivering excellent opacity, edge coverage, and long-lasting colour stability. As a true one-pot system, it works as both primer and topcoat, ensuring easy application, block resistance, and moisture ventilation for a durable, professional finish. Safe for children’s toys (DIN EN 71-3 certified), it’s a smart, eco-conscious choice for residential and commercial projects alike.

  • Sand surfaces in the direction of the grain and clean thoroughly.
  • Remove any escaping wood substances such as resins or resin galls.
  • Break off sharp edges.
  • If necessary, apply a preventive impregnation against blue stain fungus (observe permissible areas for wood preservatives).
  • On white or light-colored paintwork, use a barrier primer to prevent discoloring wood ingredients.

Iron / Steel

  • Prepare to standard cleanliness: SA 2 1⁄2 (blasting) or ST 3 (machine) per DIN EN ISO 12944-4.
  • Apply a suitable corrosion protection primer.

Aluminum

  • Follow BFS Leaflet No. 6: "Coatings made of aluminum components."
  • Clean with Universal Thinner or Gescha Multi-Star using a plastic sanding pad.
  • Prime with Capacryl Haftprimer (do not use on anodized aluminum).

Rigid PVC

  • Follow BFS Leaflet No. 22: "Coatings on plastic in building construction."
  • Clean surfaces with Gescha Multi-Star and a plastic sanding pad.
  • Sand with abrasive <180 grit, vacuum off dust.
  • Prime with Capacryl Haftprimer.

Old Coatings

  • Sand and clean adherent alkyd resin paints and/or acrylic dispersion paints.
Application

Capacryl TriMaXX Venti can be applied using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment. Stir thoroughly before use.

  • Brush: Use long-bristle acrylic brushes, ideal for waterborne coatings.
  • Roller: Use short-pile rollers, followed by a fine-pore foam roller for a smooth finish.
  • Spraying (Airless recommended):
    • Nozzle: 0.010 – 0.012 inch
    • Pressure: 200 bar
    • Dilution: up to 10% water
    • Note: Values may vary depending on device type and manufacturer.

Substrate Preparation & Coating System

Wood / Wooden Components

  • Interior: Sand/clean. Prime if necessary with Capacryl Holz-IsoGrund. Apply 1–2 coats of Capacryl TriMaXX Venti.
  • Exterior (dimensionally stable or limited stable): Impregnate with Capacryl HolzSchutzGrund or Capalac Holz-Imprägniergrund. Prime if necessary with Capacryl Holz-IsoGrund or Capalac GrundierWeiß. Apply 1–2 coats of Capacryl TriMaXX Venti. For windows, apply an additional intermediate coat as per BFS Data Sheet No. 18.

Metal Surfaces

  • Iron/Steel Interior: Derust and clean, then prime with Capalac Aqua Multiprimer or Capalac AllGrund. Apply Capacryl TriMaXX Venti if necessary.
  • Iron/Steel Exterior: Derust and clean, then apply 2 coats of Capalac AllGrund. Finish with Capacryl TriMaXX Venti.
  • Galvanized Steel/Zinc (Interior/Exterior): Prime with Capacryl Haftprimer if necessary. Apply Capacryl TriMaXX Venti.

Existing Adhesive or Old Coatings

  • Sanding and cleaning required. Apply Capacryl TriMaXX Venti. Pretreat damaged areas according to substrate requirements.
  • For alkyd resin and acrylic dispersion coatings, apply directly if adhesion is sufficient.
  • Test adhesion on 2-component coatings, powder coatings, coil coatings, or other factory coatings. Use an EP adhesion primer if needed.

Notes:

  • For white and light-colored coatings, it may be necessary to block wood ingredients.
  • Always follow BFS Data Sheet No. 18 for dimensionally stable wooden components (e.g., windows) regarding intermediate coats.
