Exterior Surfaces
- New mineral plasters/renders: Wait at least 2 weeks (approx. 20 °C / 65% humidity) before painting. Use a key coat of CapaGrund Universal to reduce lime efflorescence (paintable after 7 days).
- Old mineral plasters/renders: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and stable. Prime with:
- OptiSilan TiefGrund or CapaSol RapidGrund for porous surfaces
- Dupa plaster strengthener for powdery or sanding areas
- Concrete: Remove dirt or flouring layers. Prime smooth surfaces with Amphibolin diluted max 5% with water; highly absorbent surfaces with OptiSilan TiefGrund or CapaSol RapidGrund.
- Fiber cement & cement-bonded boards: Follow BFS guidelines. Apply key coat to all sides. Use Disbon 481 EP-Uniprimer on new, strongly alkaline boards.
- Metal & PVC: Clean thoroughly. Prime galvanized surfaces, rigid PVC, and coil coatings with Amphibolin diluted max 5% with water.
- Exposed brickwork: Ensure frost-resistant, clean, and dry. Prime with Amphibolin diluted max 5%.
- Fungal/algae contamination: Remove deposits, wash with Capatox, prime absorbent surfaces with FungiGrund, then apply Amphibolin-W.
- Cracks or defects: Repair with suitable fillers then prime repaired areas.
Interior Surfaces
- Mineral plasters: Prime porous or sandy plasters with OptiSilan TiefGrund or CapaSol RapidGrund. Solid plasters can be coated directly.
- Gypsum/plasterboards: Sand, remove dust, and prime absorbent or water-sensitive panels with Dupa plaster strengthener or AquaSperrgrund.
- Concrete & aerated concrete: Remove residues and dust. Prime aerated concrete with Capaplex diluted 1:3.
- Old coatings: Remove unstable paints or clean chalking surfaces. Prime with Dupa plaster strengthener.
- Wallpapers: Non-stick wallpaper must be removed; prime any absorbent surfaces with Dupa plaster strengthener.
- Mold, nicotine, or grease stains: Clean thoroughly, dry, then prime with FungiGrund (mold) or AquaSperrgrund (stains).
- Wood & wood-based materials: Prime with Amphibolin undiluted. For discoloring wood, use Capacryl Holz-IsoGrund first.
Small Imperfections
- Fill minor defects with Akkordspachtel, allow to dry, then re-prime before finishing.
Methods of Application
Brush or roller: Suitable for all Amphibolin and Amphibolin-W applications.
Spray (Airless) – Amphibolin only:
- Spray angle: 50°
- Nozzle: 0.017–0.021"
- Injection pressure: 150–180 bar
Coating System
Key coat / Intermediate coat: Apply Amphibolin/Amphibolin-W undiluted or diluted up to 5% with water.
Finishing coat: Apply undiluted or diluted up to 5% with water. On rough surfaces, dilute the first/intermediate and finishing coats 5% and spread thoroughly.
Consumption / Coverage
Approx. 120 ml/m² per coat on smooth surfaces. Rough surfaces require higher consumption; a test coat is recommended to determine exact usage.
To avoid paint deposits, coat wet-on-wet in one go. Do not use on horizontal surfaces exposed to water.
Always keep the container upright during storage and transport to prevent spills. Keep in a cool, dry and frost-free place.
Cleaning advice: refer to datasheet
