Polyvine Oil-Based Scumble is a traditional transparent oil glaze which can be applied to a wide range of surfaces. It has an extended drying time which is ideal for decorative paint work including colour washing, dragging, graining, marbling, stippling, ragging, sponging and bagging.

    Ensure the surface to be coated is clean and free from grease, wax or polish and completely cured.


    Always test the product on the surface to be painted before embarking on the project to ensure you are happy with the finished results. Low temperature, poor ventilation and high film thickness will cause delayed final drying. Avoid applying in cold damp conditions as this will also delay final drying.

  • Apply an acrylic eggshell or alkyd undercoat in a suitable colour and allow to dry for a minimum of 24 hours.
  • It's recommend to thin with white spirit to ensure it's applied in a relatively thin film
  • Colour your Scumble with Polyvine Oil Colourant, most oil based paints, or universal stainers
  • Ensure it's thoroughly mixed
  • Brush over the base coat
  • Create your desired decorative effect
  • When the glaze is dry, seal with 1 coat of Polyvine Extra Pale Varnish

    Always follow the manufacturer's instructions found on the container

    Aftercare & Storage

    Store in a cool, well ventilated area. Keep tin tightly closed. Protect from extremes of temperature during storage and application.

  • Delivery

    All orders placed on a working day before 3pm will be dispatched on the same day for next working day delivery. Orders placed before 3pm on Friday will be delivered on Monday (excluding bank holidays). Orders placed on weekends and Bank Holidays will be dispatched on the next working day.

We do our best to represent colours as accurately as possible however screens variations and different surfaces can alter this. Unfortunately in the event you do not like the colour we are unable to accept the product back if they it has been opened.

    Faulty Items

    If you find a fault with your product, we can offer a full refund or exchange within 30 days. We test every product that is returned to us, sadly if a product is found to have no fault we cannot refund this and the you will be given the option to have this returned to you. Please contact us to discuss these options. If you find fault after 30 days of purchase you may wish to contact the manufacturer directly as they will be able to offer support with the product.
