Polyvine Exterior Wood Varnish

Polyvine Exterior Wood Varnish is a UV resistant clear protection for exterior wood. The unique polymer system gives a silky satin finish and highlights the natural grain of the wood and is Ideal for use on exterior doors, windows, woodwork and garden furniture. Suitable for both softwood and hardwood timber, it will give a high level of water, stain and heat resistance. it's formulated to be non-yellowing, resistant to peeling and blistering and quick drying for ease of application.

Ensure the surface to be coated is clean and free from grease, wax or polish

• It is important oils removed from the surface prior to coating (oily timbers e.g.Teak, Iroko, Rosewood) otherwise that could cause a problem with adhesion, wipe with methylated spirits onto a cloth.
• New wood should be allowed to dry thoroughly before assembly begins. If the wood is green or has been pressure treated allow to dry before coating.
• All contaminants and millwork must be removed from the surface by sanding, 80/120 grit for vertical, 60/80 grit for horizontal surfaces.
• Fungus, pollen, or spores not removed and trapped below the clear varnish will discolour the surface of the timber when exposed to moisture. If contamination is suspected treat the timber with a proprietary preservative treatment.
• Completely remove old coating with 60/80 grit sandpaper.
• Fill all joints, cracks, and nail holes with a good quality Polyurethane or acrylic filler prior to coating.

Always try the varnish on a test patch before embarking on the project to ensure you are happy with the finished results. Apply in temperatures between 10°C - 30°C do not apply in direct sunlight or when rain is forecast. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions found on the container.

• Ensure to stir well before use.
• Apply liberally using a good quality synthetic brush.
• On new wood dilute the first coat with 10% water.
• Sand lightly between coats.
• Apply in the direction of the wood grain and maintain a wet edge to avoid overlaps.
• Allow to dry for 4 hours between coats.
• Apply 3 coats, leave to dry 2 hour after final coat.

Tip: To achieve a fully protected dead flat finish apply 3 coats of satin before a final coat of dead flat.

Inspect yearly for signs of wear and damage, a maintenance coat should be applied every 1-3 years on exposed areas and 3-4 years on less exposed or sheltered areas.

Q. Can I use the wood dye and seal with the wood varnish?

A. Yes absolutely, this would be a great product to seal the dyed wood as this offers UV resistance and is waterproof.

We offer a 14 day money back guarantee for all goods shipped correctly that are not required. If the item is not required, please send the item back for a full refund in its original condition, unused with its original packaging. Please note return for unwanted item is at your own expense.

All tinted paint purchases are final and non-refundable. If you're unsure about your selection, please refer to the product listing or contact us for guidance before ordering. Once mixed, tinted paints cannot be returned or refunded, regardless of delivery delays or changes in circumstances.

While we aim to meet delivery timelines, we are not responsible for delays caused by couriers, weather, or other external factors.

We recommend ordering samples or colour charts before purchasing. While we strive to represent colours accurately, screen settings and surface types can affect appearance. Opened tins cannot be returned due to dissatisfaction with colour.

Incorrect Item

Faulty Items

Faulty items can be refunded or exchanged within 30 days. All returns are tested, and if no fault is found, no refund will be issued you'll have the option to have the item returned. For faults discovered after 30 days, please contact the manufacturer for further support.
