Tikkurila Optiva Primer - Tinted Colour Match

Tikkurila Optiva Primer is a matt water-based, highly-absorbent, acrylic primer for use on new and previously painted interior walls and ceilings. High-quality formula, this deep matt base coat will unify the primed surface, delivering better adhesion of the top coat while reducing its absorption, meaning it helps reduce the quantity of top coat needed and makes application easier.

Tinted Colour Information

Tinted paint is custom mixed in house at Next Day Paint using our Tikkurila tinting machine. We mix the paint on site, which means we can offer our usual fast delivery with no extra delay. Tinted Colour Match paints can't be cancelled or returned as they are tinted to order. Note: Depending on the amount of colourant required to mix your chosen colour, there may be up to a 10% variant on the advertised paint volume.

Clean Up	Remove as much paint as possible from the equipment before cleaning with water

Ensure the surface is clean, dry and free from dirt and grease.

• Remove loose, flaking paint or lacquer with a scraper and sand the whole surface.
• Repair any cracks or holes with appropriate filler.
• Remove sanding dust before starting painting.

Always test a small area of the surface to be painted to ensure you are happy with the finished results

• Stir thoroughly before use to ensure the paint is completely mixed.
• Before application, thin if necessary, up to 5% with water.
• Apply 1 coat of Optiva Primer by brush, roller or sprayer.
• Top coat can be applied after 4 hours.

Always follow manufacturer's instructions found on the tin

Store the paint in dry conditions and protect from extremes of temperature

After use firmly secure the lid.

Q. What type of Tikkurila primer should I use for plaster or drywalls?

Ans. To achieve the best results on plaster or drywalls, it's advisable to opt for a water-based, acrylic primer. An excellent option in this category is Optiva Primer, which is specifically designed for new or previously painted interior walls and ceilings. Primer plays a crucial role in enhancing the surface's readiness for painting, as it addresses the high porosity of plaster and drywalls. By using a primer, you can effectively reduce the absorption of plaster, preventing uneven paint application and promoting better paint adhesion.

Q.When repainting my walls, is it essential to apply primer every time, or can I repaint directly over the existing paint?

Ans.Primer is not always necessary for repainting. If you're using a similar color, you can lightly scuff sand and clean the surface, then apply a new coat of paint directly over the existing one. However, for sheen changes or significant color variations, using a primer can help achieve better results and reduce the number of topcoats required. Tikkurila's Optiva Primer is recommended for walls if you're painting over silk or similar paints, as it helps create a smooth matte finish before applying the topcoat.

  If placed on a working day before 3pm, the AM Delivery will be dispatched on the same day for Next Working Day delivery. 
  Orders placed before 3pm on Friday will be delivered on Monday AM (excluding bank holidays). Orders placed on weekends and Bank Holidays will be dispatched on the next working day for delivery on the following AM. All orders have a charge of £12.99 for AM delivery.

• Late Cut-Off: Get an extra hour to place your order for Next Working Day delivery.
  Orders placed on a working day before 4pm will be dispatched on the same day for Next Working Day delivery. 
  Orders placed before 4pm on Friday will be delivered on Monday (excluding bank holidays). Orders placed on weekends and Bank Holidays will be dispatched on the next working day. All orders have a charge of £5.99 for Late Cut-Off delivery.

• Saturday Delivery: Get your order on Saturday
  Option available on Fridays. Orders placed on Friday before 3pm will be delivered on Saturday. All orders have a charge of £9.95 for Saturday delivery.

We do not deliver to the Channel Islands or the Republic of Ireland

If you find a fault with your product, we can offer a full refund or exchange within 30 days. We test every product that is returned to us, sadly if a product is found to have no fault we cannot refund this and the you will be given the option to have this returned to you.
